Wisteria Yoke Wall Sculpture

This piece speaks to the contrast between wildness and domestication. Swags of lilac, orchid and spring green ribbon reference the unfettered exuberance of a blossoming wisteria vine. But in combination with the tree branch they hang from, their form evokes an oxen yoke, symbol of constraint. Part wall decor, part commentary on the conflict between nature and development, it is accented with strands of recycled glass, crystal, optical glass and acrylic beads.
